The State Administration for Market Regulation has given its official approval and issued a mandatory national standard titled "Safety Requirements for Lithium-Ion Batteries Used in Electric Motorcycles and Electric Mopeds." This standard will come into effect on July 1, 2027. Concurrently, the previously recommended standard has been elevated to a mandatory status. The primary objective of this new standard is to bolster the safety performance of lithium battery products used in electric motorcycles and mopeds, thereby ensuring the travel safety and protecting the rights of consumers. It encompasses three pivotal characteristics: refining the safety assessment framework, broadening the scope of testing scenarios, and reinforcing the standard's enforcement. This standard will serve as a solid technical foundation for product testing, quality oversight, and the compliant progression of the industry.
