In its company blog, Microsoft stated that out of the 6,000 H-1B visa applications submitted last year, 80% were not for hiring new employees. The remaining applications for new employees involved individuals who already possessed legal residency in the United States prior to joining Microsoft, accounting for only 1% of the company's total U.S. workforce. Microsoft expressed its willingness to provide more information to the U.S. government.
