On October 2, 2026, Abogen Biosciences made an announcement about entering into a licensing collaboration with Novartis, centered around RNA therapies. This collaboration boasts a total deal value that could reach up to US$7.775 billion. As per the terms of the agreement, Novartis is set to acquire exclusive global rights for both the development and commercialization of Abogen's pivotal pipeline candidate, ABO2203. Currently, ABO2203 is in Phase I clinical trials and stands as the world's most advanced mRNA-encoded TCE candidate. Moreover, Novartis has been granted an exclusive option to license other next-generation therapeutic pipeline assets. These assets are developed utilizing Abogen's proprietary RNA platform. In return for these rights and options, Abogen Biosciences will receive an upfront payment of US$575 million. Should Novartis exercise all its options and achieve the relevant milestones, Abogen stands to gain potential milestone payments amounting to approximately US$7.2 billion. Additionally, Abogen may also be entitled to potential royalties from future product sales. Yingbo, the CEO of Abogen Biosciences, remarked that this collaboration serves as a testament to the vast potential of Abogen's RNA platform within the therapeutic arena, presenting a wide array of expansion opportunities. On the other hand, Novartis expressed its hope to delve deeper into the potential of ABO2203 through this partnership and to broaden the application scenarios of Abogen's RNA platform.
