On September 10, reports emerged that the lithium battery sector is intensifying its efforts to "curb cut-throat competition." Consequently, the construction of newly initiated projects for domestic power batteries and energy storage batteries has been put on hold. Future policy directions will hinge on the outcomes of year-end evaluations. It has been learned that relevant authorities are set to launch an exhaustive survey on the production capacity and utilization rates of domestic power batteries and energy storage batteries by the end of 2025. Commencing from mid-May 2026, there will be a temporary suspension of new construction projects for domestic power batteries and energy storage batteries. However, lithium battery projects that have already secured environmental and energy assessments prior to May will remain unaffected. By the close of 2026, companies demonstrating high capacity utilization rates will be granted the green light to advance to the next stage of battery project construction.
