The WeChat HongMeng Edition has commenced beta testing and is rolling out updates for version 8.0.21.42, with the testing phase scheduled from September 8 to October 8, 2026. To participate, users are required to navigate to the Huawei AppGallery through an SMS link for installation. This latest update refines social functionalities, encompassing enhancements to private chat do-not-disturb settings, contact management, Channels, and privacy controls. Regarding cross-device interoperability, it introduces capabilities such as remotely waking up HongMeng-powered devices from a computer and importing chat histories seamlessly. Moreover, the update introduces novel features including chat history file cleanup, account auxiliary verification, and swift payment options. Concurrently, the WeChat HongMeng Edition has also enhanced its grayscale testing capabilities across various scenarios, including live streaming, camera usage, video calls, note-taking, article reading, and emoji interactions. Since its debut on the HongMeng App Market in January 2025, the WeChat HongMeng Edition has successfully adapted its core features, with installations exceeding 76.55 million.
