SpaceX is set to join forces with the state of Louisiana, making a staggering $100 billion investment to develop "Starbase Louisiana"—the world's largest aerospace launch and manufacturing hub—right in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana. The construction of this ambitious project is slated to get underway in 2027, with the inaugural launch penciled in for 2029. Once completed, the base will boast five launch complexes, accommodating a total of 10 Starship launch pads. By 2030, it's anticipated to facilitate over 30 Starship launches daily, with the annual launch count surpassing 10,000. This base is envisioned as a highly self-reliant spaceport, seamlessly integrating a range of functions including propellant production, power generation, and deep-water shipping. The project is expected to directly generate over 3,000 jobs in the coming decade, while also spurring employment and fostering industrial chain development in the surrounding regions. SpaceX has teamed up with local agencies to take part in coastal master planning, proactively tackling environmental challenges through initiatives such as constructing breakwaters, restoring wetlands, and safeguarding wildlife.
