On August 25th, reports emerged highlighting the tremendous potential of copper-zinc-tin-sulfur-selenium (CZTSSe) as a novel thin-film photovoltaic material. However, scaling up its production has posed challenges, including inconsistent film thickness and diminished photoelectric conversion efficiency. Addressing these issues, Chinese researchers have successfully developed a solution coating process tailored for large-scale, continuous production. By employing this method, they have fabricated highly uniform CZTSSe thin films on substrates measuring 10 cm², resulting in a remarkable photoelectric conversion efficiency of 13.0% for the photovoltaic modules. This achievement sets a new global benchmark in the field.
