Elon Musk's social media platform, X, is delving into the possibility of employing stablecoins, such as the USDC token issued by Circle, to compensate content creators for their copyright earnings. Relevant negotiations are actively in progress. The combined market capitalization of stablecoins has surpassed $300 billion, a testament to their growing prominence in the financial landscape. Notably, SpaceX, another venture led by Musk, has already adopted stablecoins for facilitating cross-border payments related to its Starlink service.
In a strategic move earlier this March, X appointed Benji Taylor, a seasoned professional from the crypto industry, as the head of design. Taylor's remit encompasses overseeing businesses associated with X, xAI, and SpaceX, indicating a broader integration of blockchain and cryptocurrency expertise within Musk's ecosystem.
Furthermore, X is in the process of phasing out its traditional revenue-sharing model in favor of an original content rewards program. This initiative aims to provide greater incentives for content creators who produce original and engaging material, fostering a more vibrant and innovative creative community on the platform.
