Prediction market platform Kalshi revealed in a regulatory filing with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on Tuesday that it is planning to launch perpetual futures linked to stock indices. This marks Kalshi's new move to expand its business beyond prediction markets, following its first approval for cryptocurrency perpetual futures in late May. Perpetual futures, which are futures contracts without an expiration date, allow traders to hold positions without owning the underlying assets. The contracts continuously track asset prices and use a funding rate mechanism to ensure alignment between contract prices and market prices.
