The team from the Southwest Institute of Physics, a subsidiary of the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), has achieved remarkable strides in the wall conditioning technology for the ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) device. They have successfully cleared the final design review for the permanent electrode project of the glow discharge cleaning system. Additionally, they spearheaded a collaborative effort with CNNC Nuclear Industry 23 Construction Co., Ltd., securing the design and manufacturing contracts for the boronization system and the gas supply system for the X-ray crystal spectrometer. This milestone signifies the completion of a comprehensive technological chain, spanning from impurity removal to surface pretreatment, and offers vital support for the operation of ITER’s all-tungsten first wall.
