Microsoft Windows System Reveals Three Novel Vulnerabilities Enabling Security Circumvention and Remote Malware Deployment

Recently, cybersecurity experts have unveiled three newly discovered high-risk vulnerabilities within the Windows operating system. These vulnerabilities could potentially be exploited by attackers to acquire system-level privileges on computers that have already been patched with security updates. The first vulnerability identified is the 'Download More RAM' memory configuration chip flaw. This issue arises from the absence of write protection mechanisms in certain DDR4/DDR5 memory modules, allowing attackers to manipulate chip information and mislead the system into recognizing the memory capacity as twice its actual size. Subsequently, attackers can exploit these falsified memory addresses to read or alter protected memory regions, thereby facilitating actions such as deactivating antivirus software and breaching enterprise systems.

The second vulnerability is the 'ShieldBreak' zero-day exploit, which has the capability to circumvent the patch that Microsoft issued in July to address the RoguePlanet vulnerability. This exploit can elevate the privileges of standard users to system-level access, posing a threat to systems including Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server 2025.

The third vulnerability, known as the 'Plug and Pwn' attack, involves attackers initiating the Windows plug-and-play installation process by fabricating USB device identities. This deception prompts the system to automatically download and install vendor drivers that contain security flaws, ultimately granting attackers SYSTEM-level privileges. In response to these vulnerabilities, Microsoft has assigned unique identifiers to some of them and has rolled out patches. It is strongly recommended that users promptly update their systems and activate security safeguards to mitigate potential risks.
