As reported by CCTV News, bamboo has long been predominantly utilized in the production of furniture and tableware. However, researchers are now pioneering its transformation into an innovative, eco-friendly material. In the laboratory, bamboo undergoes a meticulous process: it is ground into powder, subjected to modifications, and then combined with fully biodegradable plastics. This fusion results in the creation of bamboo-based biodegradable materials, which have already found practical applications in express packaging. In June 2026, the China Express Association put forward an ambitious initiative aiming to achieve an annual usage of 1 billion bamboo-made express packaging items within the next five years, with an impressive average annual growth rate of 50%. Application tests have been successfully carried out in locations such as Sanming, Fujian Province, garnering positive responses.
