On July 23, Google was fined €890 million (approximately $1 billion) for violating the EU's Digital Markets Act. The European Commission stated on Thursday that Google unfairly favored its own search services and prevented app developers from directing users to channels outside the Play Store. Specifically, Google was fined €460 million for abusing its dominant market position in the search sector and €430 million for Play Store violations.
