Following the introduction of new trading regulations by the Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Beijing stock exchanges on July 6, notable modifications have been instituted in the ETF market's trading framework. Specifically, the Shanghai Stock Exchange has transitioned the closing trading mechanism for exchange-traded funds from continuous bidding to a call auction system. Additionally, it has broadened the scope of after-hours fixed-price trading to encompass all ETFs listed on both the Shanghai and Shenzhen exchanges.
Previously, under the continuous bidding system employed at the day's end, even a modest capital infusion could sway the prices of exchange-traded funds like ETFs, often resulting in erratic closing price movements. The refinement of these trading regulations directly tackles this market anomaly.
Fund managers are optimistic that, with enhanced pricing accuracy and an improved trading environment, ETFs are set to transcend their traditional role as mere trading instruments and emerge as vital tools for asset allocation.
