On June 24th, Tencent, in collaboration with TED, organized an event during London Climate Week and revealed the final selection list for the second phase of the 'Carbon Quest Initiative'. As per the list, 10 pioneering low-carbon technologies are set to receive pilot-scale funding of around RMB 170 million from Tencent. Moreover, six innovative technologies will be awarded a combined total of approximately RMB 10 million in the form of carbon credit pre-purchases, support for Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) processes, or green premium subsidies. Beyond this, Tencent will enter into carbon credit purchase agreements on a thousand-ton scale with certain selected teams. For technologies that hold long-term commercialization potential but currently lack immediate green premiums, the 'Carbon Quest Initiative' will offer green subsidies to expedite their adoption by downstream industries.
