Guangdong Province has unveiled its "Action Plan for the Collaborative Development of Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) Technology and Industry in Guangdong Province (2026-2030)". This ambitious plan is designed to drive significant advancements in key BCI technologies by 2027. It includes the development of related systems, the nurturing of over 10 leading enterprises within the industrial chain, and the initial formation of industrial clusters in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Looking ahead to 2030, the province aims to bolster its BCI sector by adding 100 new BCI technology companies, fostering the growth of unicorn enterprises, and launching more than 10 widely popular non-invasive BCI products. Additionally, the plan envisions the introduction of multiple invasive BCI products into clinical practice, along with the acquisition of medical device registration certificates for these innovations. To further solidify its position, Guangdong Province also plans to create 100 exemplary application scenarios, establish 200 BCI wards, provide services to a cumulative total of over 500,000 patients, and achieve a core industry scale worth tens of billions of yuan, with the upstream and downstream industry scale reaching hundreds of billions of yuan.
