Recently, the International Society of Smart Sensing (ISSS) received official approval for its establishment. The University of Electronic Science and Technology of China played a pivotal role as one of the founding members and serves as a vice chairman unit. The society operates under the joint leadership of the Chinese Instrument and Control Society and the Royal Chartered Institute of Measurement and Control in the UK, with its headquarters situated in Chengdu. It marks the first international scientific and technological organization in western China that is initiated by a national society and has its headquarters located outside Beijing. At present, the society has successfully united 36 member units from 10 countries and regions, including China, the UK, and Canada. As a crucial supporting institution, the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China is actively engaged in the construction and operation of the society. Notably, Chen Kai, the Dean of the School of Automation Engineering, holds a significant position within the organization.
