According to multiple sources, Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus, is rapidly progressing from the prototype phase to mass production, supported by a well-established supply chain in Taiwan and Southeast Asia. Tesla has partnered with several Taiwanese manufacturers to secure key components, including harmonic gear reducers and joint modules. Meanwhile, the main assembly of these robots will be carried out in California and Texas, USA.
Since its unveiling in 2021, Tesla’s Optimus robot has undergone three rounds of technological upgrades, marking a steady transition from laboratory research and development to commercial-scale manufacturing. The third-generation Optimus (Gen-3) was introduced in the third quarter of 2025. Tesla plans to commence mass production in early 2026, with an ambitious target of producing 1 million units annually by 2030.
