The Browser Choice Coalition, which boasts members such as Google, Opera, and others, has penned an open letter. In this letter, it levels accusations against Microsoft, alleging that the tech giant is exploiting its dominant position within the Windows system to engage in the malicious promotion of Microsoft Edge. This, the coalition argues, is undermining fair competition within the industry. The coalition is calling on Microsoft to implement a series of measures to level the playing field. These include honoring pre-installation agreements, putting an end to download prompt interference, reinstating the one-click default browser switching feature, ensuring that links are opened with the user's preferred browser, removing promotional banners, and lifting S mode restrictions. However, considering the lack of impact that similar criticisms have had in the past, as well as Firefox's prior technical workarounds to bypass system limitations, it is highly probable that Microsoft will choose to ignore this open letter.
