On May 26 local time, NASA announced contracts with multiple space companies, including Blue Origin and Astrolab, to launch robotic landers, rovers, and drones to support lunar exploration missions. Under the contracts, Astrolab received $219 million in funding, while Lunar Outpost secured $220 million to develop and deliver Lunar Terrain Vehicles (LTVs). Blue Origin was awarded a $188 million contract to transport the rovers to the lunar south pole region, with an optional execution phase worth $280.4 million. These missions aim to pave the way for crewed lunar landings by 2028 and ultimately enable a sustained human presence on the Moon.
