On May 13th, Japanese media outlets reported that NSK and NTN Bearing, ranking as the world's third and fourth largest bearing manufacturers respectively, inked a foundational agreement on the 12th. This pact outlines their ambition to achieve full management integration by October 2027, with the ultimate goal of forging a preeminent global enterprise. The blueprint for this integration encompasses the formation of a holding company, where the presidency will be entrusted to an appointee from NSK, and the chairmanship to a nominee from NTN. In the face of hurdles such as sluggish growth in the automotive and industrial machinery sectors, coupled with the swift shift towards electric vehicles, both entities are keen on slashing costs and bolstering their competitive edge. This will be achieved through the consolidation of production processes and more streamlined investments in research and development.
