Recently, DIY enthusiast u/Discipline_Great from the Reddit community has pulled off an ingenious modification. They’ve given a scrapped Philips Brilliance 107MP CRT monitor a new lease on life by swapping out its dated internals for a cutting-edge hardware setup. This new system boasts an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X processor, a Radeon RX 6900 XT graphics card, and a 17.3-inch laptop LCD screen with 2K resolution and a blazing-fast 165Hz refresh rate, all replacing the original CRT tube.

Facing the challenge of the CRT monitor’s enclosed casing and limited cooling capacity, the modifier meticulously cut the chassis and crafted custom openings to seamlessly accommodate a standard ATX motherboard. Furthermore, they installed seven 120mm fans, creating a four-inlet, three-outlet airflow system that keeps temperatures in check even during high-performance gaming sessions.
