On April 25, 2026, the U.S. Space Force, in accordance with President Trump's 'Golden Dome' initiative, awarded contracts worth up to $3.2 billion to 12 companies, including Lockheed Martin and SpaceX, for the development of space-based interceptor prototypes. These companies are required to demonstrate relevant capabilities by 2028.
