According to sources familiar with the matter, Microsoft is developing a new WinUI 3 Start Menu architecture for Windows 11, allowing users to have greater control over the menu's appearance and behavior while significantly improving responsiveness and performance. This change is part of Microsoft's broader initiative to enhance Windows 11, aiming to address user pain points and optimize the overall experience. Previously, to reduce development workload and facilitate subsequent adjustments, core components like the Start Menu were primarily developed based on WebView2 Runtime, but this resulted in poor performance. Now, Microsoft is migrating core components to the native WinUI 3 framework to reduce interaction latency and system overhead, thereby enhancing responsiveness.
