On the 17th of this month, the world's largest marine rotor sail propulsion system, a remarkable innovation developed by the 725th Research Institute of CSSC, is set to be officially unveiled. This milestone achievement signifies China's transformation from a follower to a leader in specific domains within the realm of high-end marine environmental protection equipment.
The system boasts impressive dimensions, with a diameter spanning 5 meters, a towering height of 35 meters, and a substantial weight of 150 tons. Its design enables it to effectively harness wind energy, thereby providing supplementary thrust to ships. On average, it can contribute to a fuel savings of 5% to 25% for large ocean-going vessels, simultaneously leading to a reduction in carbon emissions, which is of paramount importance in today's environmentally conscious world.
