A scientific research team composed of researchers from the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, including Researcher Gao Jun, Professor Li Chaoxu, and Researcher Jiang Lei from the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry, has successfully developed a universal membrane separation method for heavy metal ions inspired by biological calcium ion channels. This method enables efficient, green, and selective extraction of heavy metal resources such as uranium, copper, and gold, which are crucial for new energy sources. It holds promise for addressing the issues of high pollution, low efficiency, and high energy consumption associated with traditional extraction technologies.
