On April 19, the 2026 Beijing Yizhuang Half Marathon & Humanoid Robot Half Marathon will commence, marking an unprecedented event where humans and robots will compete shoulder to shoulder. Between the evening of April 11 and the early hours of April 12, the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area orchestrated a comprehensive, full-element test, involving more than 70 teams, including 4 from abroad. As the inaugural humanoid robot marathon event on a global scale, this edition has set new benchmarks in terms of its magnitude, technological advancements, and logistical support, with over 100 teams participating and nearly 40% of them leveraging autonomous navigation technology. Regarding technological innovation, this marks the first-ever large-scale application of autonomous navigation technology, compelling robots to overcome a multitude of hurdles, including sophisticated environmental perception and decision-making, stamina, dynamic equilibrium, and gait management.
