South Korea's SK Group said on Thursday that TerraPower, a U.S. nuclear energy company founded by Bill Gates and invested in by SK Group, has obtained a license from the U.S. authorities to build small modular reactors (SMRs). SK Group has close ties with TerraPower. In 2022, SK Inc. and SK Innovation Co., Ltd., both under SK Group, jointly invested $250 million in the U.S. company.
