On February 27, 2026, Meituan's food - delivery platform, Keeta, made an announcement regarding the postponement of its much - anticipated launch in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The launch, which was initially set to take place next week, has been delayed. The root cause of this delay lies in the fact that a substantial number of local restaurants have inked exclusive cooperation agreements with Keeta's competitors. These agreements have effectively locked in around 50% of the restaurants in the area. This figure is a far cry from Keeta's initial projection, which estimated that only 8% to 10% of restaurants would be tied up in such exclusive deals. As a result, Keeta's ability to access the market and the diversity of restaurant options it can offer to customers have been significantly affected.

Mansano, who serves as the Vice President of Business Cooperation for Keeta in Brazil, pointed out that all the preparatory work for the launch had been completed. This includes a hefty investment of over 400 million pesos. Additionally, Keeta had successfully registered close to 17,000 restaurants and recruited more than 27,000 riders. However, at present, all operational plans have been put on hold, and the exact date for the subsequent launch remains up in the air.

Despite this setback in Brazil, Keeta has also achieved some progress in its overseas expansion endeavors. In August 2025, following the withdrawal of the U.S. food - delivery behemoth DoorDash from markets like Qatar, Keeta officially made its debut in Doha, the capital city of Qatar.
