On February 8th, reports emerged that the 2026 Annual Summit of China’s All-Solid-State Battery Industry-Academia-Research Collaborative Innovation Platform held its closed-door session in Beijing on February 7th. The summit gathered delegates from governmental bodies, industry sectors, academic institutions, and research organizations for in-depth discussions on the latest R&D advancements, strategic evaluations, and critical technical hurdles in all-solid-state battery technology. Ouyang Minggao, Chairman of the Platform, emphasized that solid-state batteries represent a pivotal strategic direction for next-generation battery technology upgrades. He noted that significant technological leaps demand sustained effort and incremental breakthroughs. Currently, China has achieved notable milestones in all-solid-state battery R&D but still faces challenges, particularly in overcoming scientific barriers related to key materials, interfaces, composites, electrodes, and cell design for high-specific-energy sulfide-based all-solid-state batteries. Looking ahead, he stressed the importance of maintaining confidence, addressing formidable challenges head-on, and preserving China’s global leadership in lithium battery innovation.
