CIMC ENRIC, a subsidiary of CIMC, along with its joint venture partner Hexagon Purus—through CIMC Hydrogen Energy Development (Hebei) Co., Ltd.—has recently announced the successful launch of China’s first 20-foot Type IV cylinder hydrogen tube bundle container (MEGC). This milestone bridges a critical technological gap in China’s hydrogen infrastructure sector and signifies a major breakthrough in the localization of high-pressure hydrogen storage and transportation equipment.
The product seamlessly integrates cutting-edge global technologies with China’s local manufacturing strengths. It employs a design featuring Type IV all-composite material cylinders, achieving an optimal balance between extreme lightweight construction and enhanced pressure resistance, as well as structural stability. Operating at a working pressure of 38MPa, a single 40-foot standard container can store over 1 ton of hydrogen—a substantial improvement that significantly boosts both hydrogen storage capacity and transportation efficiency.
