Globally, only a select few countries possess the capability to develop and manufacture wide-body, long-range aircraft. After withdrawing from the Sino-Russian CR929 joint project, Russia had initially laid out plans to independently develop its own wide-body aircraft, the SHFDMS. This model was envisioned to have a range exceeding 13,600 kilometers and would be offered in three different configurations, accommodating 236, 281, and 320 passengers, respectively. However, the funding legislation passed by Russia at the close of last year has effectively put a stop to the development of this wide-body aircraft. The funds originally earmarked for this project have been reallocated to other aircraft initiatives. Looking ahead, it appears highly improbable that Russia will embark on the independent development of a wide-body aircraft in the near term.
