A collaborative research effort between Associate Professor Yin Shuai's team from Sun Yat-sen University and Researcher Li Zixiang's team from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has yielded significant advancements in the study of the fermion sign problem. Leveraging a novel approach rooted in nonequilibrium virtual short-time quantum critical dynamics, the teams have successfully circumvented the challenges posed by the fermion sign problem. This breakthrough has enabled them to precisely delineate the ground-state phase diagram and accurately determine the critical properties of quantum many-body systems. Their findings have been published in the prestigious journal Science Advances.
