In December 2025, Douyin's local services division unveiled the “Douyin Pay” feature. This innovative function empowers consumers to finalize payments by scanning the official payment device using the Douyin APP at merchant stores. The entire payment process takes place seamlessly within the Douyin ecosystem, eliminating the hassle of being redirected to third-party applications. At present, this feature is undergoing a pilot test in major cities like Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou. It caters to high-frequency offline consumption scenarios, such as dining out and shopping at convenience stores. The roster of partner merchants encompasses both well-known chain brands and local small and medium-sized enterprises.
