On December 10, China marked a significant milestone with the official roll-off of its first-ever satellite dedicated to energy engineering, the Power Construction No. 1. Traditionally, the quality monitoring of major energy projects across the nation depended heavily on the deployment of numerous monitoring devices at construction sites and their adjacent areas. This approach not only presented considerable logistical challenges but also suffered from limited accuracy. In contrast, the Power Construction No. 1 satellite revolutionizes this process by enabling millimeter-level precision monitoring from space, thereby ensuring the meticulous construction of key infrastructure projects.
The satellite's innovative flat-panel design incorporates highly efficient solar panels, enhancing its photoelectric conversion efficiency by more than 50%. Remarkably, the entire solar panel assembly weighs just over 400 grams. Moreover, its onboard radar remote sensing system is capable of detecting minute, millimeter-level changes on the ground continuously, unaffected by cloud cover or rainfall. This capability is instrumental in facilitating the precise construction of major projects, as well as enhancing early warning systems and rescue operations in the face of natural disasters.
