The CICC research report highlights that the capacity electricity price policy is set to ignite a short-term surge in installation activities, while expressing optimism regarding the medium-to-long-term growth prospects of energy storage demand. In the near term, the scarcity of high-quality node resources, coupled with the anticipated rollout of capacity electricity price policies across various provinces, has spurred social capital to actively participate in the market. Independent energy storage systems are poised to experience a flurry of installations during this policy window period. Preliminary projections suggest that, factoring in a reduction in generation-side electricity tariffs, the theoretical installed capacity potential for independent energy storage between 2026 and 2027 stands at approximately 158GW/634GWh. Looking ahead to the medium and long term, starting from 2027, as the electricity market matures and the installed capacity of new energy sources expands, the deployment of new energy storage systems will transition from being policy-driven to being driven by intrinsic market demand. This new demand will predominantly stem from proactive energy storage allocation on the generation side and multi-scenario applications on the load side.
