SpaceX has filed a trademark application for "Starlink Mobile" with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, signaling its intent to push forward with its independent 5G mobile operator strategy. This innovative service will leverage wireless devices and satellite networks to facilitate real-time, two-way data communication, eliminating the need for ground-based stations and accommodating multiple device connections simultaneously.
SpaceX is forging partnerships with industry leaders such as Qualcomm and MediaTek, with the goal of integrating specialized modems into future mobile phones. Looking ahead, SpaceX has outlined plans to deploy a new generation of V3 satellites using its "Starship 3" vehicle in 2026.
Furthermore, SpaceX has made a substantial investment of $17 billion in securing spectrum resources. By combining this investment with the planned launch of 15,000 direct-to-mobile-phone V3 satellites, SpaceX aims to construct a nationwide space-based telecommunications network. Starlink Mobile heralds a groundbreaking enhancement in service quality, promising that upon its full completion in 2027, users will enjoy 5G download speeds reaching up to 100Mbps.
