Dunamu, the operator behind South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, Upbit, announced that its platform fell victim to a hacker attack at 4:42 a.m. on Thursday. This breach led to the unauthorized transfer of Solana-linked assets, valued at approximately 54 billion won (equivalent to about $36.9 million), to an unverified wallet address. Oh Kyung-seok, the CEO of Dunamu, assured that all incurred losses would be compensated using Upbit’s own funds, thereby safeguarding customer assets from any impact. At present, the exchange has temporarily halted both deposit and withdrawal services for virtual assets and is in the process of conducting a thorough security assessment.
