On November 24, X-energy, a nuclear reactor developer that enjoys Amazon’s backing, declared the successful closure of its Series D funding round, which raised nearly $700 million. This funding round was spearheaded by Jane Street Capital. Among the new investors were Ark Invest, Galvanize, Hood River Capital Management, Point72, Reaves Asset Management, and XTX Ventures. Some existing investors, such as funds under Ares Management and Corner Capital, also took part. X-energy intends to use this influx of funds to bolster its supply chain and commercial pipeline, thereby sustaining its order book that exceeds 11 gigawatts, roughly equivalent to about 144 cutting-edge small modular reactors.
