Recently, China Telecom, working in tandem with Huawei and Dingqiao, carried out a successful pilot project in Shanghai featuring a mechanical guide dog. This innovative creation was built upon Dingqiao's intelligent quadruped robot. During testing across various scenarios, the mechanical guide dog demonstrated remarkable capabilities. It precisely detected obstacles in its path and, leveraging edge computing prowess, formulated optimal routes. Additionally, it provided users with clear voice-guided instructions to navigate their surroundings. Feedback from visually impaired individuals who participated in the trial was overwhelmingly positive. They noted that the mechanical guide dog significantly broadened their scope of activities, boosting their confidence and instilling a greater sense of security while traveling.

The mechanical guide dog is outfitted with cutting-edge, high-precision sensors. Moreover, it harnesses the power of a 5G large-upload network. This network facilitates seamless data transmission and computational task offloading. As a result, the computational load on the terminal device is substantially reduced. This not only prolongs the battery life of the guide dog but also paves the way for its large-scale deployment.
