LG Energy Solution Set to Commence Domestic LFP Battery Production in South Korea by 2027

On Monday, LG Energy Solution, South Korea's premier battery manufacturer, unveiled its strategic plan to begin producing lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries for energy storage systems (ESS) within its home country by the year 2027. This year, the company is set to initiate the construction of LFP battery production facilities at its Ochang plant, strategically located in Chungju, just 147 kilometers south of the bustling capital, Seoul. The inaugural production line will boast an initial capacity of 1 gigawatt-hour (GWh), with the flexibility to scale up production in response to market needs.
