Jason Fesler, the founder of the website, has declared that test-ipv6.com, a longstanding IPv6 connectivity testing platform with a 15-year history, will officially shut its doors in December 2025. Fesler explained that since its inception in 2010, the website has been a labor of love rather than a profit-generating venture, having absorbed considerable resources over the years. Now, he feels it's time to redirect his focus towards his family. When it comes to the potential transfer of the domain, Fesler harbors some reservations but is open to the idea of entrusting it to a reputable Regional Internet Registry (RIR) or Network Information Center (NIC) organization, provided that it doesn't demand a significant time commitment from him. He stands firm on his stance against cluttering the website with advertisements, convinced that an overabundance of ads would diminish the user experience. Additionally, he declines to accept donations, citing conflicts with his employment contract. As of June 2025, China boasts a staggering 834 million active IPv6 users, representing 75.29% of its total internet-using population, with IPv6 network traffic also claiming a notable share across the country. The website's core purpose has been to assess and grade users' IPv6 network connectivity status.
