The European Union announced on Thursday its proposal to abolish tariffs on U.S. industrial goods, fulfilling a cornerstone of the U.S.-EU trade agreement and paving the way for a reduction in auto tariffs from the start of August. In a statement, the European Commission highlighted that this measure would grant preferential market access to certain U.S. seafood and agricultural products, while simultaneously securing an exemption from U.S. tariffs on the EU auto industry, effective August 1.
