On August 13, the U.S. Department of Commerce launched a national security investigation to evaluate whether imported wind energy-related products pose a threat to national security and undermine domestic production capabilities. In a statement released on Thursday, the agency indicated that this initiative could potentially lead to the imposition of additional tariffs on imported wind turbines and their components. Notably, the United States had previously included wind turbines in the list of steel and aluminum derivative products, subjecting their steel and aluminum components to a 50% tariff.
