Elon Musk and his social media company X have reached a tentative settlement in the lawsuit brought forth by former Twitter employees. Under the agreement, Musk has committed to paying $500 million in severance to 6,000 laid-off employees. According to court documents, both parties have reached a settlement in principle and commenced negotiations on the detailed terms on August 19, 2025. Following his acquisition of Twitter in 2022, Musk terminated approximately half of the workforce and renamed the platform X.
