In the aftermath of the 2024 U.S. presidential election, numerous users disenchanted with the partisan and aggressive discourse on platform X (formerly known as Twitter) migrated to the decentralized social media platform Bluesky. Unlike its predecessor, Bluesky refrains from employing algorithms to recommend content, initially achieving success in mitigating the proliferation of extremist views and misinformation. Nonetheless, within a span of less than a year, the platform began to exhibit an echo chamber effect. Despite its decentralized architecture, user interactions and following patterns still coalesced into relatively insular information bubbles, fostering information polarization and the resurgence of extremist speech.
