This July, a tragic incident occurred when a 6-year-old boy developed a fever after playing in water and was subsequently diagnosed with Naegleria fowleri, commonly known as the "brain-eating amoeba." Despite intensive efforts to save his life, the boy unfortunately succumbed to the infection. It is noted that the child had played in water both at his school and in a local park. In light of this, experts strongly advise the public to heighten their awareness of safety measures and refrain from swimming or playing in untreated water bodies such as wild lakes, to minimize the risk of contracting this rare and potentially fatal parasitic disease.
