The city of Memphis is currently scrutinizing Elon Musk's xAI project, particularly focusing on the natural gas turbines that power its Colossus data center. This development has sparked worries among residents regarding potential air pollution. On Tuesday, Memphis unveiled preliminary findings from third-party air quality tests, affirming that the levels of ten detected pollutants were within safety thresholds. Nonetheless, the Southern Environmental Law Center (SELC) has highlighted a crucial omission: the pollutant ozone was not included in these tests. As a result, SELC has threatened legal action against xAI on behalf of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
