Thomas Kurian, the CEO of Google Cloud, has unveiled a restructuring plan designed to bolster the division's responsiveness to market demands. Under this plan, the core business service departments will converge into a unified team, headed by Abi Sharma, with the objective of enhancing sales efficiency. Additionally, Google Cloud will introduce a centralized "Deal Management" team and a "Business Functions - Customer Experience Organization." This realignment will unfortunately lead to a minor reduction in workforce, with certain roles relocating to locations such as India and Mexico City. Google Cloud stands as the linchpin of the company's AI competition, yet despite a 30% year-on-year growth in cloud revenue, reaching $11.96 billion in the fourth quarter, it still fell shy of analysts' projections and trails behind Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure in terms of scale.
