The Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, in collaboration with the Yangpu District People's Government, has jointly unveiled the "Yangpu Digital Innovation Zone Construction Plan." According to this plan, by the year 2027, the Yangpu Digital Innovation Zone aims to bolster the concentration of innovation and entrepreneurship resources, fostering an initial framework for nurturing future industries. By this time, the region's R&D expenditure will account for 5.5% of its GDP, with the core digital economy sector contributing over 20% of the city's total. Additionally, the Shanghai Quantum Urban Spatio-temporal Innovation Base situated on Fuxing Island is poised to begin delivering tangible outcomes. Looking ahead to 2030, the innovation zone envisions a comprehensive strengthening of its innovative capabilities, anticipating an enterprise incubation and activation rate of 40% and the emergence of 20 unicorn companies, thereby shaping a distinctive new paradigm of "university-city integration."
